The Big Three: Answers to your most pressing questions

First, can I just say how much fun it is to chat with so many of you about the aquatic center project?

Everywhere I go, I run into someone who wants to know the latest, and I love sharing the latest news.

But, since I don't happen to cross paths with all of you, I want to make sure everyone is up to speed. Here are answers to the three questions I hear most often ...

Q: How are we going to raise enough money to build a world-class aquatic center?

Naturally, a project of this scope is going to require multiple funding streams. We're working diligently to build strategic partnerships with:

  • businesses
  • school corporations
  • agencies committed to economic development in our region
  • organizations that award grants to large-scale capital campaigns

Sharing specifics is still a bit premature, but I can tell you we've met with dozens and dozens of key influencers who share our vision and want to help.

We've also partnered with Loring, Sternberg & Associates, a fundraising powerhouse that is prepared to lead a swift and targeted campaign on behalf of NIACF.

Q: Where will the Aquatic Center be located?

We have several sites in mind, and we're working with developers and prospective sponsors to choose a location that best meets everyone's needs. Discussions and preliminary negotiations are currently in progress.

Q: What's the timeline?

We are eager to move this project forward as quickly as possible. If all goes according to plan, look for swimmers and divers to make their first collective splash at the future aquatic center in late 2020 or early 2021.

Naturally, with so many wheels in motion, we expect to have frequent updates to this information. We will continue to share the latest news via email, so watch your Inbox!

In the meantime, if you happen to know a prospective corporate sponsor we should be talking to, please let us know. We'd love to reach out and begin a friendly, no-pressure conversation about the aquatic center project.
